Mile: 6:41min/mile 5K: 22:23 Half: 1:42:something Marathon: 4:23:something 50 Miler: 12:23:something What is your distance PR? 50 miles at Eagle Up in 2017 What's your highest weekly recorded milage? 71 miles during Stupid Week(end). It also happened to be the first week of 2018s training season so that was interesting. I only did two-a-day and each weekend day had a long run. What's your comfy pace? I really enjoy a long run that falls in the mid 9-9:20min/mile pace.

Any big races coming up? Newport Marathon in April and Eagle Up in June! I am also planning on NYC 60K in November. What are your short-term running goals? Break 4 hours on my marathon in April. What are your long-term running goals? I'd like to do a 100 miler race, although it probably would never be in under 24hrs. What's one piece of running advice you'd give to the younger version of yourself? Slow down. You have all the time in the world to get faster. What is something you need to work on to become a better runner? Form. I'm a heel slapper and I've been working on getting more forefoot. But that makes my ankles really sore because I'm not used to all this glute and hamstring nonsense. What is your current shoe choice? Brooks Pure Flow 6 Trail? Road? Track? Or Treadmill? Road for sure. Treadmills are my necessary evil and guilty pleasure. I love being able to watch Netflix and get my miles in. What is your ideal running weather? 50s to 60s. Overcast. Slight drizzle towards the end.
It shows me I did something but I wasn't taking my sweet time. How long have you been running? I started getting into running a bit more enthusiastically late 2014. I was just doing maybe 2 or so miles before lifting at the gym. Then I ran 5 miles in January of 2015 and was like "I can do this". I signed up for my first 5K later that spring. I came in 4th place in my age group. That high just really never left and I just became addicted to racing and running ever since. Tell us why you began running? Tale as old as time: an ex was all about me losing some weight. Before we hang him form a cross, I was very overweight and just wanted to be healthier to be able to keep up with activities. I tried running 1 mile a day for 100 days straight. Got bored. Started Crossfit. Got dumped by said ex. Moved to a new neighborhood and joined a new gym. They had some sweet treadmills and I would just hop on one because I had no idea how to lift weights without some coach barking at me. It was a great way to start getting back into myself and forget about "whats-his-face".

Later that year, I made some internet weirdo friends in another sub and we participate in frequent online chat based "fitness challenges". It was there I was introduced to a lovely woman in the area who would become my running guru and dear friend. I was so interested in the way she talked about running and how she was able to do it for hours on end. I ran my longest run (at the time) on a treadmill next to her. A full 5 miles (at a very hungover pace)! I learned all about the NYC Marathon 9+1 program and decided to do it. I ran 9 races + later that year. I also gained a very supportive partner during this time. In our early dating days, we would go run/walk a few miles and then lift a little. He bought us both copies of 'Born to Run' which we loved. He got me my first foam roller. He always jokes that I'm faster than him, which isn't true because the bastard holds the 1 mile record at 6:40 (to my 6:41). Anyways, I'm always just so amazed at how much fun it is to run. How the voices in my head calm down, the way my body looks and feels after a good run.

On a good run day I feel like the world is on my side. Obviously, every day isn't a good run day. But I'm trying to take more value in the hard days. I also love how this sport is both social and not. I have options to go be friendly with 20 people on Saturday morning and put in miles while still having the option to be alone with my own thoughts. Most memorable running moment? -Found $20 bucks on the bridge on day when I really did not want to run. Thanks world! -Learned raccoons are in Brooklyn when I confused one for a feral cat. -My first family 5K: I was visiting the Boston area for a nice long stretch during Christmas one year. My boyfriend came with for a few days before flying to see his family. Since I had this new found love of running, I hunted for a Jingle Bell something or other to run. Turns out there is a giant Jingle Bell themed race with free beer! I got a group of maybe 6 or so people to run this race. My parents, brother, and nephews came out to spectate. Seeing my nephews' faces light up at all the people dressed up was magical.
